The Odyssey: Movie Review

The odyssey

It has been an hour

Since the show ended

But I still feel like

I'm in Ithaca

Alongside Odysseus

The wise man

This was a journey of

Introspection, hubris, fate

Where a man learns of

Punishment

Sacrifice

The individual

And beyond all

Mortality

There is violence

But it never gets

Gratuitous

There is suffering

But it never gets

Agonising

There is triumph

But it never gets

ecstatic

This movie

Is an exercise

In humility

In flow

It almost felt serene

Like some daoist scripture

Of Buddhist wall art

More than Greek mythology

Or perhaps I'm just rusty

On my Greek mythology

This is one movie

That made me enter

A state of flow

Tantamount to a dream

Or meditation

Few films have made me feel

More cathartic

More flow

Floating

Amidst the victories and tragedies

Of life.

It's quite the special flick.
