Pre-review: Aang the Last Airbender

Aang the Last Airbender: a warm movie

I met Avatar Aang and his friends a long time ago. They were the coolest big brothers and sisters this young boy could have.

They showed me magic tricks of air, wind, earth, and fire. They took me to see the whole world atop a flying bison. They treated me to sensory experiences I could only have dreamed of. They taught me a great deal about aesthetic beauty.

They taught me about human beauty too. They shared with me their dreams, their feelings, and their responsibilities. Often these would get so heavy it would erupt into fights. But they would never let these fights break them. They reconsidered, apologised, forgave and took lessons from one another. They almost always emerged closer and stronger. When they had completed their mission and I had to part ways with them, I knew in my heart that they were the most beautiful team of human beings I've ever seen.

Now I meet my older brothers and sisters again. They have grown older. As have I and I must say, age really kills idyllic beauty! I have seen so many new things and faced so many new challenges. I have tried to be as strong as my brothers and sisters but somehow I find this difficult to do all the time. I can be quite selfish and opinionated. I'm worried…has the team become more selfish and opinionated too?

It seems Aang is.
